Madagascar-Vanilla Syrup

Madagascar-Vanilla Syrup

Vanilla is one of those universally loved flavors. It is the second most expensive spice after saffron.

We use natural Madagascar vanilla extract because of its well-rounded, creamy caramel notes. This is as opposed to imitation vanilla which is made with synthetic vanillin.

Why not steep a vanilla bean pod in simple syrup?

Potency.

In using an excellent natural vanilla extract, you can control the potency and make a vanilla syrup quickly.

Steeping a vanilla pod in simple syrup for days will yield a faint vanilla flavor—which will disappear when you combine it with a dominant flavor like coffee. Although it is visually appealing, it's not useful or practical.

Recipe

Ingredients

220 g White sugar
220 g Boiling water
16 g Natural Madagascar-Vanilla Extract

Directions

  1. In a medium sauce pan, add sugar and boiling water.
  2. Stir thoroughly until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add vanilla extract and stir.
  4. Let the syrup cool then add to your storage container.
